Antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles is well recognized and application of silver nanoparticles in medical field is really wide, as well as in field of material for silver posses good conducting properties. Silver nanoparticles have tremendous potential for antibacterial activities against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The aim of this paper was to produce silver nanoparticles using different reduction agents and their characterization. The silver nanoparticles were obtained using silver nitrate (10 mM) as starting material and phenylhydrazine (10 mM) and trisodium citrate (1%) as reducing agents. Characterization was performed by UV/VIS spectrophotometry. The strongest absorption line for phenylhydrazine was determined at 420 nm, while for trisodium citrate the maximum was observed at 421 nm. On the basis of experimental results it was shown that size of silver nanoparticles obtained by phenylhydrazine was 20-40 nm and for reduction with trisodium citrate particle size also was evaluated to 20-40 nm.
